Illegal 1.5 km Asphalt Road Demolished on Government Land in Yelahanka; FIR Filed Against Encroachers

Bengaluru

The Bengaluru Urban District Administration has demolished an unauthorized 1.5-kilometre-long asphalt road constructed on government land in Sonnenahalli village, Yelahanka taluk, and registered a criminal case against the encroachers, according to District Commissioner G. Jagadeesh.

The illegal road, measuring about 60 feet in width, was found on Survey No. 78 of Sonnenahalli village under Hesaraghatta hobli. It was allegedly built by individuals identified as Harinath Reddy and Panchami Developers, residents of C.K.A.L. Layout, Sahakaranagar, Bengaluru. They had also encroached upon government lands in Survey Nos. 76/1, 76/2, 76/3, 76/4, and 77/2, covering around five acres with an estimated value of ₹7.5 crore (at ₹1.5 crore per acre).

Following directions from Rajendra Kumar Kataria, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department, a joint operation was carried out under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadeesh. The Yelahanka Tahsildar Shreyas G.S., revenue officials, and Rajanakunte police were present during the clearance operation.

The officials removed the entire stretch of the illegal asphalt road and confirmed that a criminal case has been registered against those responsible for the encroachment and illegal construction.

The district administration reiterated its commitment to protecting public land and taking strict action against violators involved in illegal development activities. Authorities have also warned that similar encroachments elsewhere in the district will be identified and demolished without delay.
