Former Speaker and MP Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri has reiterated his demand for a judicial probe into the corruption allegations against Speaker UT Khader, insisting that the inquiry be conducted by a sitting judge.
Addressing the issue in connection with discussions held in the Vidhana Soudha, Kageri said, “The corruption allegations involving UT Khader have become a topic of public debate. Hence, I have demanded that the case be handed over to a judicial investigation led by a sitting judge.”
He stressed that the Speaker’s office holds constitutional dignity and should not be undermined by controversy. “Even now, I maintain that the inquiry should be conducted by the current judge. I believe UT Khader will be cleared of all charges after the investigation,” he said, adding that once the probe begins, the judge should be empowered to seek evidence and submit a detailed report.
Responding to Khader’s remark that Kageri’s comments insult former Speakers, Kageri said, “We have the right to express our opinions. My statements are not meant as an insult but as a call for transparency. Let a sitting judge investigate the matter and bring out the truth.”
