Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara said the government will seek the Law Department’s opinion before taking further action following the Supreme Court’s stay on the SIT investigation into the Dharmasthala Burude case.
Reacting to the court’s order, he stated, “I have not yet seen the entire High Court order. We will discuss the matter with the Law Department and the Advocate General before deciding the next step — whether to file an appeal or move the Supreme Court. A decision will be taken after due consultation.”
Commenting on the implementation of internal reservation, Dr. Parameshwara clarified that there is no confusion in the process. “It was earlier decided that an ordinance would be issued to implement internal reservation under categories A, B, and C, followed by an Act. However, in the last meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, it was resolved to introduce a bill directly instead of an ordinance. The Chief Minister has already directed the Law Minister to present the bill during the winter session,” he explained.
Responding to MP Govind Karajol’s allegation that the government planned to repeal the internal reservation order, Dr. Parameshwara said, “Govind Karajol has misunderstood the matter. During his tenure, there was confusion due to the way the issue was handled. We have now resolved it and are working to give the reservation the force of law.”
