A one-day skill development workshop aimed at strengthening maternal and child health was recently held at the Mirasabihalli Primary Health Centre in Challakere Taluk, Chitradurga District. The program was jointly organized by the District Health and Family Welfare Office, ICMR, and KHPT institutions, with a focus on improving care during the crucial first 1,000 days of a child’s life.
The workshop provided training to all health staff, including ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers, equipping them with updated knowledge and practical skills related to maternal health, newborn care, and nutrition. The training emphasized early intervention, proper antenatal care, and preventive health practices to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
Administrative Medical Officer Dr. Guruprasad inaugurated the workshop by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Following the inauguration, officials from the District Health and Family Welfare Department and representatives from ICMR and KHPT briefed participants on the objectives and importance of the initiative.
