Karnataka Leaders’ Federation State President Ramesh Hirejambur called upon organizations to work selflessly for building a stronger society and to focus on educating children for a brighter future. He was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Federation’s Taluk Unit office-bearers held in Maski, Raichur district.

Hirejambur highlighted that Maharshi Valmiki, through the Ramayana, taught values, culture, and civilization to the entire nation. However, he lamented that people today remember only Lord Rama while forgetting Valmiki’s ideals. Certain narrow-minded individuals are spreading false stories that Valmiki was a thief or bandit, which is completely untrue. The original Ramayana written by Valmiki itself clarifies these misconceptions. It is our responsibility to raise awareness about the truth, he said.

Expressing concern over the growing misuse of fake caste certificates under the ST category, Hirejambur urged unity within the community. People from the same society are pulling each other down. This is not right, he remarked, calling for spreading awareness of Valmiki Ramayana in every village to promote literary and cultural growth among youth.

He added that the federation’s objective is to ensure its initiatives reach every village. Commenting on reservation issues, he stated that while the previous government issued orders, implementation is still pending. The reservation matter must be discussed in Parliament and included under Schedule 9 with the President’s assent, he said.

Hirejambur expressed dissatisfaction that though Raichur University was named after Valmiki, reservation in employment for Scheduled Castes and Tribes has not yet been implemented there. Former MP V.S. Ugrappa also addressed the gathering via phone, urging the community to prioritize education and social development over politics.
