Wyalagere Clean-Up Drive
Tumkuru
A major cleanliness and waste management initiative was launched in Wyalagere village, where civic workers and local authorities jointly carried out a comprehensive sanitation drive to promote hygiene and public health.
According to reports, the Wyalagere Gram Panchayat, in association with the Taluk Panchayat and the Zilla Panchayat, organized the campaign under the guidance of senior officials including Executive Officer K.N. Jayanna and Panchayat Development Officer J. Manjunath. The operation focused on cleaning public spaces, drains, and roads, ensuring proper waste disposal, and removing debris that had accumulated in several parts of the village.
During the drive, officials inspected areas near the village market, main bus stand, and residential streets. A total of 33 sanitation workers, including 11 male and 9 female staff, along with volunteers and local youth, actively participated in the operation. They used mechanized sweepers and manual cleaning tools to ensure that the streets were thoroughly cleaned and waste was properly segregated.
The initiative also emphasized awareness about maintaining cleanliness and the importance of personal hygiene. Residents were urged to cooperate with the authorities by avoiding littering and segregating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Educational materials were distributed, and a pledge was taken by villagers to sustain cleanliness efforts.
Officials highlighted that such cleanliness campaigns would be conducted regularly to make Wyalagere a model village under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural). The campaign concluded with officers thanking all participants for their cooperation and dedication toward building a cleaner and healthier community.
