Maize Trader Akbar Pasha Refutes Allegations, Says Complaint Filed for Refusing to Buy Smuggled Maize

Trader terms allegations baseless

BENGALURU

Maize trader Akbar Pasha from Chikkaballapur has dismissed the allegations levelled against him by another trader, Ramakrishna, terming them “completely false and baseless.”

Addressing a press conference at the Bengaluru Press Club on Thursday, Pasha, accompanied by his wife and sisters, said he had never done any business with Ramakrishna and owed him no money. “Yet he filed a police complaint, got me arrested and tortured me,” Pasha alleged.

He said that Ramakrishna had earlier pressured him and his brothers to buy poor-quality and smuggled maize from Nepal and sell it in Telangana. “When I refused, he filed a false case against me,” Pasha claimed, adding that his sisters sought help from Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan after the alleged harassment.

“Now, Ramakrishna is spreading lies that the minister is supporting cheaters. In reality, he is the one cheating farmers by selling low-quality Nepalese maize instead of local produce,” Pasha said.

He clarified that the minister was not related to his family and that he had merely approached the police for justice. “I have myself requested the police to conduct a full investigation. If I am guilty, I am ready to be punished,” he said.
