Kremlin vows to destroy foreign fighters now

Moscow

The Kremlin said on Tuesday that Russian troops often hear foreign languages at the front in Ukraine and that foreign fighters will be destroyed. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that soldiers regularly pick up English and French being spoken near the lines. He linked those voices to people fighting for Kyiv.

Russia has long accused NATO and Western countries of having personnel in Ukraine. Moscow says its listening posts and eavesdropping services have detected foreign speech at the battlefield. Peskov said those foreigners are present and that Russian forces will continue to act against them.

The U.S. and NATO say they support Ukraine but do not send combat troops there. Western officials and media reports have said that U.S. and European intelligence agencies have a strong presence in Ukraine, but that is different from deploying soldiers in combat. Kyiv relies on wide international help, including weapons, training and intelligence, according to several reports.

Analysts warn that claims about foreign soldiers can increase tensions and risk wider confrontation. The Kremlin statement comes as fighting continues and both sides trade accusations. For now, Moscow’s message is clear: it will target those it calls foreign fighters on the Ukrainian front. The warnings are likely to draw reactions from Western capitals and from Kyiv’s partners in coming days.
