Farmers protest over fake land documents, demand arrest of accused

Farmers in Bhagyanagar protest fake land deals, demand arrest of accused and cancellation of forged sale deeds.

Bhagyanagar

Farmers from Naremaddepalli Gram Panchayat limits staged a protest outside the Bagepalli Taluk Office, demanding the arrest of individuals accused of creating fake land records and the cancellation of forged sale deeds related to their agricultural land.

According to the farmers, 2.30 acres of land belonging to Venkataappa (Survey No. 116) and 4 acres owned by Venkataravamma in Gyadivandlapalli village were fraudulently transferred to a Bengaluru-based person using forged documents. “We continue to cultivate our land, yet fake records have been created to cheat us,” they alleged.

Advocate K.C. Chandrashekhara Reddy, who supported the protest, along with MLA S.N. Subbareddy, submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar demanding action. They alleged that a man named Anjinappa from Shivapura forged Aadhaar details, posing his wife Anjinamma as Venkataappa’s wife, Maddamma, to execute the sale deed. Similar fraud was reported on Venkataravamma’s land.

Though an FIR was registered at Bagepalli Police Station against Anjinappa, Srinivas Prasad, Kondareddy, and Gopi, no arrests have been made yet, protesters complained. Tahsildar Manish N. Pathri assured the farmers that legal steps would be taken to cancel the fake sale deed and return the land to its rightful owners within a few days.

Officials clarified that while khata transfers were withheld due to the ongoing dispute, court proceedings would be required to cancel the fraudulent deeds officially.
