Vote theft: Revenue Min terms EC a subsidiary of BJP

BENGALURU

Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda alleged that vote theft is rampant across the country, and the BJP and the Election Commission are involved in it.

He was speaking to media after launching a signature collection campaign against vote theft from his home office in Sahakarinagar.

“The Election Commission is working as a subsidiary of the BJP. As a result, the entire electoral process in the country has been undermined. If irregularities are committed in the electoral system itself, it will be easy for the BJP to win. Therefore, the Election Commission and the BJP are jointly involved in this irregularity,” he said.

The first duty of the Commission is to ensure that there are no irregularities in the maintenance of the voter list. However, he lamented that the issue of how many irregularities the Election Commission has committed in the voter list itself, from Alanda constituency in Kalaburagi to Mahadevapura constituency in Bengaluru, is before our eyes.

It has been proven with evidence that 35 thousand illegal votes were added to the list in Mahadevapura. In Alanda constituency, the names of 6 thousand genuine voters were omitted from the list. This was prevented because the information about this illegality came to the attention of MLA BR Patil in due time. Otherwise, all those names would have been removed from the list. He opined that this would have affected the outcome of an election.

In Alanda constituency, applications have been filed in the name of someone else to remove someone’s name from the voter list through dozens of phone numbers using a cyber center. Information that more than 70 fake phone numbers were used has already come out of the investigation. In whose name were these numbers purchased. Where are their locations, he questioned.
