Bengaluru Rural

Two workers were killed and four others seriously injured after a container lorry lost control and plunged into a ditch near Uraganadoddi in Anekal taluk on Sunday morning. The accident occurred around 11 a.m. when the speeding truck, loaded with road cable drilling machinery, overturned while negotiating a steep curve.

According to police, the driver lost control due to overspeeding on a downhill stretch, causing the heavy vehicle to roll into a deep pit. Two workers were trapped beneath the container and died on the spot, while four others sustained severe injuries. The injured have been admitted to Vijayshree Hospital in Jigani, where one is in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivas (26) from Andhra Pradesh, who was driving the container, and Shreeman (25) from Jharkhand, a cable drilling machine operator. Police teams used two cranes to lift the overturned vehicle and recover the bodies.

Anekal DySP Mohan Kumar, Jigani Inspector Manjunath, and Bengaluru Rural Additional SP Venkatesh Prasanna visited the accident site and conducted an inspection. Authorities have warned transport operators to ensure vehicle maintenance and adhere to speed regulations, especially on hilly stretches, to prevent similar mishaps.
