In a quiet corner of Doddabommasandra-Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru, stands Little Angels Convent, a small institution with a big vision.
For over 27 years, it has been a nurturing ground for education, compassion, and women’s empowerment, shaped by the unwavering leadership of Dhanalakshmi Suresh Babu, Founder and Managing Trustee of Apoorva Education Trust.
What makes the Convent truly remarkable is not just its longevity, but it’s entirely women-led legacy. Since the day it opened its doors in 1998 till date, not a single male staff member has been employed, a distinction that few institutions can claim. This defining feature reflects a quiet but powerful revolution in the world of education, one where women have stood shoulder-to-shoulder, building futures with strength, patience, and grace.
Under the stewardship of Dhanalakshmi, the school has become more than an academic space; it has become a sanctuary for women seeking dignity and opportunity. Over the years, she has opened her doors to young women, single mothers, and those who have overcome personal or social challenges, training and employing them as teachers, assistants, and support staff. Through her compassion and vision, she has turned a modest neighborhood school into a family of empowered women.
Dhanalakshmi’s philosophy is as heartfelt as it is enduring. “Every staff member is like a daughter to me, and every child is like my grandchild,” she says.
That sentiment has defined the spirit of Little Angels Convent, a place where education is not merely taught but lived through love, discipline, and belonging.
BOX: ‘Empowered women, empower generations’
In its journey spanning nearly three decades, over 500 women have been trained and employed at the institution, while more than 5,000 students have passed through its classrooms. From America to Canada, across Europe and Australia, it alumni now grace every corner of the globe, embodying the very ideals of compassion, integrity, and perseverance instilled within these modest classrooms.
As the school celebrates its 27th anniversary, alongside its Annual Science Exhibition, it also celebrates the enduring spirit of every woman, teacher, and child, who has been part of this inspiring journey.
From its modest beginnings to its global imprint, the Convent stands as a shining example of what faith, compassion, and women-led leadership can achieve.
