Yoga, tactical drills dominate AUSTRAHIND 2025 military drill

New Delhi

The ongoing India-Australia joint military exercise, AUSTRAHIND 2025, at Bindoon Training Area in Western Australia, has seen a strong focus on physical training, Yoga, firing, and tactical drills, officials said on Sunday. The fourth edition of the exercise aims to strengthen defence cooperation and interoperability between the two armies.

The exercise, which began on October 13 at Irwin Barracks in Perth, includes around 120 troops from the Indian Army. The opening ceremony emphasized enhancing operational readiness and preparing both armies for joint company-level operations in urban and semi-urban terrain.

“The contingents are engaging in physical training, Yoga, firing and tactical drills, showcasing synergy, discipline, and the growing strength of India-Australia defence cooperation,” the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) posted on X.

AUSTRAHIND 2025 follows Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s recent visit to Australia, highlighting the deepening bilateral defence ties. The exercise provides a platform for exchanging tactics, techniques, and procedures in sub-conventional warfare and operating jointly in open and semi-desert environments.

Activities during the drill include joint planning, tactical exercises, and special arms skills to hone operational capabilities and integrate emerging technologies. The High Commission in Canberra welcomed the participating Indian troops and noted that the exercise fosters camaraderie, mutual trust, and partnership between the Indian and Australian armies.

Running until October 26, AUSTRAHIND 2025 reinforces the spirit of collaboration and enhances the operational readiness of both forces, preparing them to conduct coordinated missions in complex combat environments. The exercise underscores the growing strategic ties between India and Australia in the defence sector.
