Former PM H.D. Deve Gowda discharged, advised 15 days rest

Bengaluru

Former Prime Minister and JD(S) chief H.D. Deve Gowda, 92, has been discharged from Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru after recovering from a urinary tract infection (UTI) accompanied by high fever and chills. He was admitted on October 7 and treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) before being shifted to the ward.

Doctors have advised the nonagenarian to observe 15 days of rest, according to a statement by the JD(S). Party officials requested leaders, workers, and well-wishers to refrain from visiting his residence during this recovery period. The party added that once he is fully rested, Deve Gowda will personally visit J.P. Bhavan, the party headquarters, to meet supporters.

Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Bengaluru Rural MP and Deve Gowda’s son-in-law, had earlier noted that the leader’s renal parameters were affected, necessitating hospital care. “He developed a high fever with chills due to UTI. He required ICU care for monitoring and treatment before moving to the ward,” he said.

Deve Gowda, India’s 11th Prime Minister, is reportedly in stable condition following the treatment. The recovery marks relief for party workers and supporters who had been concerned about his health over the past week.
