Dr. B.A. Viveka Rai Honoured with Dr.Shivaram Karanth Award

Dr. B.A. Viveka Rai, a distinguished scholar and former Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi, was conferred with the prestigious Dr.Shivaram Karanth Award during the Karanth Birth Anniversary and Literary Festival held at the newly inaugurated Ravindra Kala Mantapa of MGM College, Udupi, on Saturday. The event was organized by the Dr.Shivaram Karanth Trust.

In his acceptance speech, Dr.Viveka Rai lauded Dr.Karanth for his exceptional blend of “reading, travel, and experimentation,” qualities that are rare in any writer. He highlighted Dr. Karanth’s strength in anthropology and his extensive travels to understand diverse cultures. Dr. Rai emphasized that Dr. Karanth’s ability to effortlessly mingle with children and become one among them showcased his deep connection with humanity.

The award ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including retired professor Dr. Talteje Vasanth Kumar, who delivered a felicitation speech for Dr. Viveka Rai. The event also featured cultural performances and discussions on Dr. Karanth’s contributions to literature and culture.
