Congress will ban RSS if elected, Says M. Lakshman

Madikeri

M. Lakshman, spokesperson for the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), has asserted that if Congress comes to power at the Centre, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will be completely banned. Speaking to the media in Madikeri, Lakshman praised Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for calling out the RSS, saying he supported the remark and appreciated his courage.

Lakshman criticized the RSS for its historical and ongoing actions, claiming that it had caused harm to the nation rather than contributing to its independence. “The RSS is responsible for spreading communal unrest across the country. It is an organization that must be banned. Had Congress done it earlier, our nation would have been spared much turmoil. But it didn’t happen. If Congress forms the government at the Centre in the future, we will ensure a 100% ban on the RSS,” he said.

He added that banning the organization would create an opportunity for peaceful living in the country. Lakshman also accused the RSS of winning elections through unethical practices, including vote manipulation. “Even if someone wearing a cap is called a thief or ‘kari topi,’ I will accept it because the RSS is the one destroying the country. Rahul Gandhi has been constantly fighting against this, and we fully support him,” he stated.

Through his remarks, Lakshman underlined Congress’s commitment to removing organizations he viewed as divisive, emphasizing that a ban on the RSS is necessary to ensure national harmony, uphold democracy, and protect the secular fabric of the country.
