Car Bursts Into Flames While in Motion — Miraculous Escape near Kavu Temple

Mangaluru

In a late-night incident on Saturday, a car caught fire while in motion and was completely destroyed near the Mahalingeshwara Kavu temple in Mangaluru. Thankfully, the vehicle’s occupants escaped without injury, though the blaze left the car in ruins.

Eyewitnesses report that the car was traveling along the road adjacent to the Kavu Mahalingeshwara temple when flames began to erupt from its engine compartment. The driver, realizing the danger, steered the vehicle to the roadside and hastily evacuated all passengers. Bystanders rushed to assist and doused portions of the fire using water and fire extinguishers until the fire department arrived.

Authorities arrived promptly, but by then the blaze had spread through the vehicle’s engine and interior compartments, rendering it a total loss. No injuries have been reported. While the cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, early indications point to a possible mechanical fault or electrical short circuit.

Local police have registered a case and initiated investigations, including forensic examination of the charred remains and examination of wiring and fuel system components. They are also collecting witness statements and traffic camera footage, if available. The site is close to a noted temple and a busy road, heightening concern over potential collateral damage had the fire occurred in peak hours.
