Mysuru girl rape and murder: R. Ashoka slams State government

Bengaluru

Karnataka state opposition leader R. Ashoka has strongly criticized the Siddaramaiah-led Karnataka government following the rape and murder of a young girl in Mysuru, calling it a stark failure of governance. Speaking from Bengaluru, Ashoka described the incident as a “black mark” against the Chief Minister, highlighting the state’s deteriorating law and order situation.

Ashoka condemned the government for failing to protect children even during major public events like the Dasara celebrations. “While the CM hails from this district, he could not safeguard a young girl in his own backyard. Law and order in the state has collapsed. Even with heavy police deployment and alertness during Dasara, such crimes could not be prevented,” he said.

He also raised concerns over police priorities, alleging that officers were more focused on postings and political favors than field duties. “If the police were vigilant, such an incident could have been prevented. Officers were busy collecting money for postings instead of protecting citizens. This is humiliating for the state,” Ashok stated, drawing a parallel with strict security enforcement in other cities.

The BJP leader further backed Pratap Simha’s criticism of Mysuru police, emphasizing that political interference and administrative lapses have hindered effective policing, leaving citizens vulnerable. He demanded immediate corrective action from the state government to restore law and order.
