Popular Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda passed away at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, on Monday after fighting for his life for nearly 12 days. The 35-year-old suffered serious head and spinal injuries in a road accident near Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, when his motorcycle hit stray cattle.
Doctors confirmed that his condition remained critical, with minimal brain activity despite intensive treatment. He was on life support since admission, and his health showed no improvement.
A resident of Sector 71, Mohali, Jawanda was known for chartbusters like Surname, Kamla, Mera Dil, and Sardari. He also made his mark in Punjabi cinema with films such as Jind Jaan, Mindo Taseeldarni, and Kaka Ji.
Jawanda started his music career in 2014 with Munda Like Me, quickly gaining popularity for his soulful voice and songs reflecting Punjabi pride. According to his Apple Music bio, he initially aimed to become a police officer but followed his passion for music instead.
His sudden demise has left fans and the Punjabi entertainment industry in grief. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann visited the hospital a day before his passing to check on his health.
Originally from Pona village in Ludhiana’s Jagraon, Jawanda was also known for hits like Afreen, Khush Reha Kar, Kangani, and Down to Earth. Colleagues and fans across the industry continue to express condolences, remembering him as a talented and humble artist.
