Lawyers Condemn Shoe-Throwing Incident at CJI

Ramanagar

Officials and members of the Bangalore South District Bar Association have strongly condemned the behavior of advocate Kishore Rakesh, who allegedly threw a shoe at B.R. Gavai, the 52nd Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court.

The bar association held a meeting at its premises in the city to denounce the incident and subsequently sent a formal condemnation letter to the Supreme Court judges. Speaking on the matter, Association Secretary T. Timmegowda said that the act by the lawyer, who forgot that B.R. Gavai is the Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court, is condemnable and marks a black spot for the entire legal fraternity. He emphasized that strict action should be taken against the guilty lawyer, and a message must be sent that no one is above the law under the judicial system.

He further urged both the central and state governments to take appropriate measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur in courtrooms between judges and lawyers in the future.

The protest was attended by former president of the District Bar Association Hanumantharaju, vice president Chandrashekhar, treasurer Manjesh Gowda R.C., and senior lawyers including Subbashaastri, S. Lokesh, Devaraju, Shivannagowda, Umesh, Ashok, and H.S. Vijay Kumar, among others.
