Jaishankar meets VP Radhakrishnan, discusses foreign policy

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday met Vice President CP Radhakrishnan to discuss India’s foreign policy, focusing on the opportunities and challenges that shape the country’s global engagement. Sharing details of the meeting on X, Jaishankar described it as an “honour” and said he looked forward to the Vice President’s guidance in advancing India’s national development. “Discussed the opportunities and challenges in our foreign policy. Look forward to his leadership as we take national development forward,” he wrote.

The meeting comes at a time when India is steadily expanding its global presence through strategic partnerships, economic diplomacy, and active participation in multilateral forums. It reflects the government’s effort to align foreign policy objectives with domestic growth and development priorities, ensuring that India’s global engagements complement national interests.

Earlier, Jaishankar highlighted India’s important role in the global Artificial Intelligence space while speaking at the Trust and Safety India Festival 2025, a pre-summit for the February 2026 AI Impact Summit. He noted that many countries, especially from the Global South, look to India for inspiration in digital governance and public infrastructure. “India bears a special responsibility because several nations look to us for inspiration, particularly in digital public infrastructure,” he said.

The minister also emphasized India’s achievements over the past decade in governance, service delivery, and efficiency, noting that these successes are being noticed globally. “When I travel abroad, discussions often revolve around India’s progress, and this is now extending into the field of AI as well,” Jaishankar added. His remarks underscored India’s growing influence in shaping global conversations on technology, governance, and innovation, highlighting the country’s evolving role on the world stage.
