Minister Manohar Lal to represent India at G20 Energy Meet

Union Power to highlight the country’s renewable energy progress and commitment to a sustainable global energy future.

New Delhi

Union Power Minister Manohar Lal will represent India at the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting, scheduled in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, from October 7–10. The meeting, hosted under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, will bring together energy leaders from major economies to discuss the future of global energy transitions.

Manohar Lal will participate in key sessions focusing on “Energy Security, Clean Cooking, Affordable and Reliable Access” and “Sustainable Industrial Development.” The discussions aim to strengthen international collaboration for achieving universal, affordable, and sustainable energy access, crucial for global economic progress and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The minister is expected to showcase India’s rapid renewable energy transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. India has achieved a milestone by generating 50% of its total power capacity from renewable sources, surpassing global expectations. This, the statement noted, reflects India’s strong commitment to a clean, inclusive, and resilient energy future.

Manohar Lal will also share India’s best practices in enhancing energy access and affordability, especially in rural and developing regions. He is likely to stress that climate change and energy transitions remain pressing global challenges, disproportionately affecting developing nations.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to a just, affordable, and inclusive global energy transition, he will echo the vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.” The meeting will serve as a key platform for advancing the G20 clean energy agenda.
