‘Only High Command Talks Matters in Leadership Change’

Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa has reiterated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remains the party’s leader and will continue in that role. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he emphasized that political decisions are taken solely by the party high command, and statements by others hold no significance.

Addressing the recent tragedy in some states involving children’s deaths after consuming cough syrup, he criticized the central government’s handling. “The medicine should have been properly tested before release. Now advising people not to use it is not adequate. The loss of 11 young lives is deeply saddening, and preventive action should have been taken beforehand,” he said.

Reflecting on the recently concluded Mysuru Dasara festival, Mahadevappa praised the city administration, police, and sanitation workers for ensuring a successful and clean event. “This year, the public truly celebrated Dasara. Over 11 days, thousands of tons of waste were collected. Despite initial challenges, everything was organized smoothly. There were no political programs during Dasara, ensuring a calm and peaceful environment,” he stated.

Responding to social media discussions about the open jeep during the Dasara Jamboo Savari, where the chief minister’s grandson was present, he said, “No protocol was violated. This was not a salute or flag ceremony—it was merely a way to greet the public collectively. People who are unaware of the actual proceedings tend to create unnecessary controversy,” he added.

Mahadevappa’s comments highlighted the focus on party leadership, public safety, and the successful conduct of traditional festivities without politicization.
