In a creative effort to promote cleanliness, Revolution Minds, in collaboration with South Western Railways (SWR), has launched a beautification initiative titled My Station, My Duty at the Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji (SSS) railway station, which houses the world’s longest railway platform.
Under this campaign, station walls are being transformed with vibrant, eye-catching murals themed around the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, cleanliness, and civic responsibility. The visually engaging artworks are drawing attention from passengers and inspiring a sense of responsibility toward public spaces. The initiative received appreciation from Bela Meena, Divisional Railway Manager of the Hubballi division.
The team, already known for beautification drives across major streets of Hubballi and Dharwad, has consistently used public art to raise awareness on social issues, including reducing plastic use. Anil Kumar, Senior Divisional Mechanical Engineer, SWR, stated that the painting drive began on September 17 as part of a larger effort to maintain cleanliness and green environments on railway premises. Various day-wise activities, such as cleanliness drives, waste segregation, public awareness programs, and art-from-waste installations, have been organized. Between platforms 1 and 6, a 500-meter-long wall has been painted to discourage spitting and littering while enhancing the station’s visual appeal.
Vinayak Jogarishettar, founder-president of Revolution Minds, said over the past four years, the team has painted walls of almost all major government offices in the region. My Station, My Duty is their latest mission at Hubballi station, involving about 70 volunteers and over 180 litres of paint provided by SWR.
Artist Seema Hiremath described the experience as fulfilling and inspiring. “Painting from morning till evening alongside fellow artists was incredible. Contributing to the beautification of the world’s longest railway platform is something I will always cherish,” she said.
