Public Demand Immediate Pothole Repairs

Davangere
Heavy rains over the past few days have left several city roads filled with potholes, causing severe inconvenience to motorists. Instead of repairing them, municipal officials are now planning to construct German-style roundabouts, drawing public criticism.

Motorists struggle daily on pothole-ridden roads, with some even meeting with accidents. Locals have strongly appealed for immediate filling of potholes.

Deputy Commissioner Gangadhar Swamy said that repair work has already begun in some areas but is facing obstruction from the public. “We were waiting for the rains to subside. Work has started, but some citizens are preventing it, alleging poor quality. If such obstruction continues, we will file FIRs and take strict action,” he warned.

He added that officials are sometimes forced to work at night due to heavy daytime traffic. “We are working beyond capacity and will not compromise on quality. Otherwise, the Lokayukta may act against us. The tender has been floated and work will continue,” he assured.
