Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday directed the Revenue Department to prepare a detailed report on losses caused by the recent natural calamity, and submit it to the Central government without delay. The order came during a meeting with administrative secretaries to assess state recovery efforts.
“The monsoon this year, like in 2023, has caused heavy loss of life and property. We must act quickly to measure the impact and ensure timely relief,” the Chief Minister said. He stressed that despite limited resources, the government is striving to support every affected family.
CM Sukhu directed secretaries to set clear targets and complete pending tasks to deliver benefits of development projects efficiently. He asked the Chief Secretary to regularly review departmental project progress. “Secretaries must work with dedication to implement plans and make Himachal Pradesh self-reliant,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised fast-tracking the expansion of Kangra airport and advancing tourism-related projects. He outlined priorities for the state, including health, education, rural economy, tourism, energy, food processing, and data storage, encouraging investments in these sectors.
Significant reforms are being introduced in the health sector to provide quality treatment closer to home. Upgrades are planned for all seven medical colleges, including modern equipment and advanced facilities on the lines of AIIMS Delhi.
CM Sukhu also stressed promoting electric vehicles and building the necessary infrastructure. Noting that nearly 90 percent of Himachal’s population lives in villages, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the rural economy for the benefit of rural communities.
