An FIR has been registered at Hanagal police station against five individuals, including Shiggavi MLA Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathana, in connection with a land encroachment case. Advocate Fakiragouda Veeranagouda Patil had filed a private complaint in court regarding the incident that occurred on June 5, 2025. Acting on the court’s directions during the hearing, the police registered a case, which is currently under investigation, said Hanagal authorities.
The FIR names Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathana, Maqbul Ahmed Khan Pathana, Survey Department Chief Officer YK Jagadish, ADLR D Satyanarayanappa, and Taluk Surveyor Manjunath Moolimani as the accused. Charges include common intention (BNS 3(5)), dishonestly taking movable property without the owner’s permission (BNS 303(1)), criminal trespass (BNS 329(3)), and destruction of property with intent to cause harm (BNS 324(4)).
The complainant, Fakiragowda, owns 12 acres and 22 guntes of land in Halekoti hobli, Hangal taluk, featuring 25-year-old mango trees. Adjacent land, belonging to his relatives, had 4 acres and 32 guntes purchased by Yasir and Maqbul on May 29, 2017. On June 5, 2025, following instructions from Yasir and Maqbul, the remaining accused measured the land and allegedly trespassed onto Fakiragowda’s property, cutting down mango trees using a JCB machine and taking them illegally, the police said.
