Bihar Minister denies corruption charges by Kishor

On September 29, Kishor accused Choudhary of illegally amassing ₹200 crore, demanded withdrawal of defamation case, and threatened action via Governor and courts

Bihar Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary firmly rejected corruption allegations made against him by Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor, declaring that baseless accusations cannot end his political career.

Addressing reporters, Choudhary said his assets are already in the public domain and open for verification. “If anyone proves I own even one dhur of land, I am ready to become that person’s slave,” he remarked. Dismissing the charges, he added, “If someone claims I am in partnership with Trump, will people believe it? Allegations alone cannot destroy a career.”

Choudhary stressed his long political journey, noting that he had served as Congress state president for over four years and later as JD(U)’s executive president in 2020. “Those who think they can finish my career with allegations are mistaken. I will continue to play an active role in Bihar politics,” he asserted.

On his legal action, Choudhary confirmed receiving Kishor’s reply to the Rs 100 crore defamation notice he filed on September 23. His legal team is currently reviewing it. He had earlier demanded a public and written apology within seven days, failing which he warned of criminal and civil proceedings.

In response, Kishor on September 29 accused Choudhary of amassing assets worth Rs 200 crore through illegal means, including commissions on government contracts. He claimed to possess documentary evidence and demanded the minister withdraw the defamation case. Kishor also warned of escalating the issue to the Governor and the courts if his demand was not met.

The political clash has intensified, with both sides standing firm, leaving the matter now heading towards a prolonged legal battle.
