Report on crop damage in dist to be submitted to govt soon: HK Patil

A joint survey has already been conducted on the damage to crops due to heavy rains in the district. According to the Agriculture Department, a total of 1,12,438 hectares of crops have been damaged in the district. According to the NDRF, a proposal has been prepared to provide compensation of Rs 121.33 crore and it will be submitted to the government soon, said District In-charge HK Patil.

He spoke at a press conference after a crop damage survey and a Janata Darshan and progress review meeting was held at the city’s Deputy Commissioner’s office hall.

According to the Horticulture Department, 11,348 hectares of horticultural crops have been damaged. According to the NDRF, a proposal has been prepared for compensation of Rs 10.36 crore. Objections have been submitted by 4337 farmers regarding damage to agricultural crops. They will be examined and incorporated in the report. Rs 4.36 crore related to agriculture and an additional Rs 1 crore related to horticulture. Minister HK Patil said that it will be included in the proposal for providing compensation.

The ambitious Janata Darshan programme, which provides solutions to people’s problems on the spot, has been implemented effectively. It has been advised to take action for the early disposal of the applications received in Janata Darshan. Some of the applications that are not disposed of in Janata Darshan due to lack of availability of funds.  The department officials have been asked to dispose of the pending applications at various stages by October 10 and submit a report to the Deputy Commissioner, he said.

Urban Development Authority President Akbarsabha Babarji, Deputy Commissioner CN Sridhar, District Superintendent of Police Rohan Jagadish were present on the occasion.
