Provide info on rain damage

The affected farmers must be compensated by crop damages following scientific method

Due to excessive rain, 203 houses in Bilagi taluk have been flooded and the land has been damaged. The Tahsildar should get comprehensive information about the damage to crops through the village administrators and the houses that have collapsed through the Gram Panchayat PDOs and give it to the Deputy Commissioner. We will bring it to the notice of the government and demand appropriate compensation, said MLA JT Patil.

MLA JT Patil and Deputy Commissioner M Sangappa were speaking at a press conference held after MLA JT Patil visited and inspected the rain-damaged areas in Badagandi and Rolli villages of  Bilagi taluk.

15 thousand acres of horticultural crops and 20 thousand acres of various agricultural crops have been damaged due to the heavy rains. Onions, vegetables, cassava, scallions and many other crops have been damaged in horticulture. The onion crop in the farmers’ fields has rotted in the field and is lost, MLA JT Patil observed.

After surveying the houses, it was found that the house of Allasabha Mansurasabha Tagaran in Rolli village had completely collapsed and was completely damaged. The villagers brought it to the attention of the MLA and the Deputy Commissioner that only 26,000 in compensation had been reported. As the villagers said, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Tahsildar to inspect.

He said that the respective Gram Panchayat PDOs should submit a report on the collapse of houses.

MLA JT Patil and Deputy Commissioner Sangappa M, who had eaten at the Scheduled Tribe hostel, visited the hostel and inspected the facilities. They saw the chaos there and criticised the officials for the foul smell coming from the toilets.

Arrange for curtains to be put up on the library windows, otherwise action will be taken against you, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Social Welfare Officer and the hostel warden.

Horticulture Department Deputy Director Ravindra Hakkatti, Fisheries Deputy Director Anjana Devi M Tahsildar Vinod Attalli, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer and Agriculture Officer Srinivas Patil, Horticulture Officer Mahesh Dandannavar were present.

MLA JT Patil and Tahsildar Vinod Attalli presented a sanction letter of Rs 5 lakh to the family of Viththala Yankappa Valikara of Koppa SR village in the taluk, who was washed away in the continuous rain water. The Revenue Department has given a sanction letter of Rs 25 lakh to the deceased’s wife Chandravva Viththala Valikara.

MLA JT Patil said that the money should be released to the farmers as per the NDRF guidelines through the Deputy Commissioner immediately.
