Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the centenary celebrations of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as the Chief Guest on October 1 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre. The event marks 100 years of the RSS, founded in 1925 by Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

During the programme, the Prime Minister will release a commemorative postage stamp and a special coin to honour the Sangh’s century-long journey. Modi is also expected to deliver a keynote address highlighting the organisation’s role in shaping India’s social and cultural landscape.

The RSS, a volunteer-based socio-cultural organisation, has played a key role in education, health, rural development, and disaster relief. Over the decades, its volunteers have participated in rescue and rehabilitation during floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters, while its affiliated groups have worked to empower farmers, women, and youth through grassroots initiatives.

Emphasising discipline, patriotism, and selfless service, the RSS promotes “Sarvangeena Unnati,” or the all-round development of India. Its activities aim to strengthen national character, cultural awareness, and community solidarity.

The centenary event will not only celebrate the Sangh’s historical achievements but also reaffirm its ongoing commitment to nation-building. Organisers said the celebration would showcase the RSS’s contributions to fostering unity, social responsibility, and civic engagement, reflecting its vision of a strong, culturally vibrant India as it enters its second century of service.
