Statistical Analysis Crucial for Effective Policy Making: Prez Murmu

President Murmu urges officers to drive inclusive, tech-led growth with integrity

New Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu on Monday highlighted the growing importance of statistics in a data-driven world, stating that accurate statistical analysis is vital for effective policy-making and implementation. Addressing probationers of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS), Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS), and Central Engineering Service (CES), she said that nations with a skilled workforce are better prepared to face global challenges and tap into emerging development opportunities.

Emphasising that skill and knowledge are the real drivers of economic growth and social progress, the President urged young officers to embrace advanced technological skills as India moves toward technology-led development. She expressed confidence that ISDS officers will help shape a capable and future-ready workforce.

Speaking to CES officers, Murmu said engineers play a crucial role in building a nation’s infrastructure and boosting economic growth. With the government’s focus on major infrastructure projects, she noted, the engineering sector is poised for strong expansion. She encouraged agencies like the Central Public Works Department to lead in ensuring sustainable and inclusive development.

The President further stated that the officers’ roles extend beyond policy execution to contributing valuable feedback for effective policymaking. She reminded them that their commitment to public service, particularly towards the weaker and marginalised sections, would determine the nation’s progress.

Concluding her address, President Murmu urged the officers to serve with dedication and integrity, stressing that their collective efforts will help build a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous India that stands as a global example of progress and strength.
