Actor Emraan Hashmi has officially started filming Awarapan 2 in Bangkok, returning as his iconic character Shivam. The movie’s first schedule began after a traditional mahurat puja on September 29.
Producer Vishesh Bhatt shared the news on Instagram with a picture of the clapboard, using the line “Tera Mera Rishta Purana” to hint at the emotional depth fans can expect. The film is directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui, with production by Vishesh Films.
Awarapan 2 continues the journey of Shivam, blending the emotional intensity of the original with a fresh storyline. The film is slated for release on April 3, 2026. Emraan had announced the sequel earlier this year on his birthday, writing: “Bas mujhe kuch aur der zinda rakh.”
The original Awarapan (2007) followed gangster Shivam Pandit, torn between duty and love. It became a cult hit for its music and tragic storyline.
Recently, Emraan was seen in They Call Him OG, a Telugu action film where he played the villain opposite Pawan Kalyan. With Awarapan 2, Emraan brings back one of his most beloved roles to the big screen.
