Death toll from Typhoon Bualoi in Vietnam touches 11

Hanoi
The death toll from Typhoon Bualoi in Vietnam has risen to 11, with 13 people still missing and 33 injured, local media reported. The northern province of Ninh Binh suffered heavily, where six fatalities and seven injuries were recorded. Around 10 houses collapsed and another 10 lost their roofs, while nearly 30 electricity poles were toppled and large areas of rice fields were destroyed.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment confirmed that 17 people remain missing in Quang Tri and Gia Lai provinces. Additional casualties include two people in Hue city and Thanh Hoa province, caused by floods and falling trees.

In Ha Tinh province, strong winds and heavy rain on Sunday night caused the roof of a coal storage facility at a thermal power plant to collapse, with repairs expected to take months. Typhoon Bualoi is set to be the 10th typhoon affecting Vietnam this year, following Typhoon Ragasa earlier in September.

Authorities have instructed heightened monitoring of forecasts, directed fishing vessels to seek shelter, mobilised rescue teams, and ordered safety measures for people and property. They warned of continued heavy rains potentially triggering flooding, flash floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas.
