Sri’s Concept of Music Therapy is Wonderful: V. Somanna

Mysuru

The very idea of “Yoga Sangeetha Nada Bhavana” is extraordinary. It is an inspiring force, and the credit goes to the divine Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, said Union Minister of State for Railways and Water Resources V. Somanna.
Inaugurating the state-of-the-art Yoga Sangeetha Nada Bhavana at the Avadhoota Datta Peetha in Mysuru, the minister praised Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji as a beacon who, for over five decades, has shaped the great vision of using music for meditation and therapy, and spread it across the world. Yoga music and knowledge-based therapy are extremely beneficial to people. It brings peace and tranquility. Everyone should make the best use of it. Swamiji’s social concern makes Avadhoota Datta Peetha a model for other mutts and monasteries. His concept of music therapy is indeed extraordinary.
Highlighting yoga’s global importance, he recalled that in 2025, Prime Minister Modi Narendra Modi gave the call of One Earth, One Yoga, and that yoga has now been adopted in most countries. The United Nations declaring International Yoga Day is a matter of pride for India. Yoga grants peace of mind, calmness, and physical health. Similarly, music therapy gives serenity and well-being. “I have witnessed thousands of programs across India and abroad. But never have I seen anything like this special program. Coming here is indeed the result of merits from my past birth. Sri Swamiji has thought far ahead, understanding the path of our country and the tools needed for a peaceful life. Truly, Swamiji is none other than a divine incarnation. On the world map, Sri Swamiji is well known. Foreigners come to the Datta Peetha just to listen to his healing music, having realized its power. That itself is truly amazing,” he added.
In his benedictory address, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji called upon everyone to follow the Sanatana tradition. “We must never forget the idea of Made in India. Everyone should purchase and promote products made in our country. Buy handwoven sarees. Practice yoga daily, go for a walk every day, and safeguard your health. Even animals and birds become immersed in nada (sound). The whole body gets enveloped in vibration. Diseases and mental worries vanish. Therefore, everyone should listen to soft, rhythm-free music before sleeping. In the morning, you will feel fresh, receive new ideas, and your mind will be uplifted.”
Explaining further, Swamiji said Nada therapy simply means sitting and listening. It brings health and fortune. People from Russia, Japan, and China invite him to share this therapy. Next, he will be going to Korea. They sense something divine in this music, and that is why they call him. Now that this music auditorium has been inaugurated, everyone should cultivate the habit of listening to nada.
The event was attended by the junior pontiff, Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, and MLA T.S. Srivatsa.
