Police Register Case Against HJV Leader for Sexual Coercion

Bajpe

The Bajpe police have registered a criminal case against local Hindu Jagaran Vedike leader Samit Raj following a complaint by a woman alleging that he acquired her nude photographs and subjected her to persistent sexual coercion, even threatening to kill her.

In her complaint, the woman says Raj used the private images as leverage to force her into repeated sexual relations. When she attempted to resist, he allegedly issued death threats. The police said she approached the station with her written statement after gathering necessary circumstantial evidence.

A Bajpe police official confirmed, “We have filed case under pertinent IPC sections based on her complaint, and will investigate after examining the digital evidence.” The accused is currently at large.

Cyber forensic teams are expected to examine the images, their origin, and the timeline of communications. Local observers say such blackmail cases are increasingly common in the coastal region, compounding the challenges faced by women seeking justice.

The complainant’s representatives have urged prompt judicial action, requesting protective measures for her and speedy trial. Meanwhile, social activists in the region have demanded increased vigilance and stricter enforcement to deter perpetrators who abuse technological means to exploit victims.
