New Delhi

The World Food India 2025 summit has made a strong start, with Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth over Rs 1 lakh crore signed in just the first two days. The event, held at Bharat Mandapam, is helping India move closer to its goal of becoming a global food basket.

On the second day alone, 21 companies committed investments totaling more than Rs 25,000 crore. Over 25 knowledge sessions have taken place so far, involving global regulators, policymakers, startups, and industry leaders. Discussions focused on sustainability, technology, international partnerships, and investment opportunities.

Partner states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Jharkhand, and Bihar, along with countries including New Zealand, Vietnam, Japan, and Russia, hosted special sessions. Central ministries such as Agriculture, AYUSH, APEDA, and the World Bank also participated with thematic talks.

MoFPI organized thirteen focused sessions on key themes such as pet food, nutraceuticals, specialty foods, alcoholic drinks, and plant-based foods. Bilateral meetings with Russia and Portugal were held to boost government cooperation in agriculture and food processing.

Geeta Chauhan, Co-Founder of HiWiPay, praised the event’s international scale and diverse participants. Yashika Singh of PepsiCo India highlighted their focus on strengthening ties with farmers during their third year at the summit.

Alongside the summit, the 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit and the 24th India International Seafood Show are also ongoing to promote regulatory alignment and India’s seafood exports.
