Revanth Leads Relief

CM Reddy orders evacuation amid Musi floods

Hyderabad

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered emergency measures after the Musi River rose dangerously due to heavy rains and water releases from Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar. He directed officials to evacuate people from low-lying areas and set up relief camps for affected families.

The Chief Minister personally reviewed the situation on Friday night, coordinating with disaster management and district officials. He assured that displaced residents would be given shelter and essential supplies.

Floodwaters entered the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS), one of Hyderabad’s busiest hubs, stranding many passengers. CM Reddy closely monitored the rescue work and issued real-time instructions to ensure commuters were moved to safety. To reduce risk, he ordered incoming buses to be diverted to alternative routes until water levels recede.

With the India Meteorological Department warning of continued heavy rainfall, the Chief Minister placed the Police, Traffic Police, GHMC, Disaster Response and Fire Services, and the Electricity Department on high alert. He instructed them to work together in relief and rescue operations.

To ensure safety, authorities were told to install warning boards at water stagnation points, alert people near flood-prone areas along the Musi, and enforce traffic diversions to prevent accidents and keep movement smooth.

The government appealed to citizens to remain alert, follow advisories, and cooperate with emergency workers. Meanwhile, heavy overnight rains caused severe waterlogging across Hyderabad. The Musi River overflowed near Chaderghat, flooding homes and colonies and sparking panic. Officials said the release of water from Himayat Sagar added to the crisis, damaging property in nearby residential areas.
