NCEL achieves ₹5,403 crore in farm exports

Cooperative Export Surge

New Delhi
National Co-operative Exports Limited (NCEL), established in 2023, has achieved exports worth ₹5,403.01 crore in agricultural commodities, including rice, onions, sugar, baby food, processed foods, spices, and tea, according to an official statement released on Friday.

In just two years, NCEL has exported 13.49 lakh metric tonnes of produce to 28 countries. By August 2025, it had 11,034 member cooperatives, with 10,793 being Primary Agricultural Credit Societies. Profits have also been shared with members, marking a strong start for the cooperative-led export body.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah urged NCEL to explore new opportunities, such as exporting sugar from cooperative mills, aromatic rice from Tripura, organic cotton, and coarse grains. He highlighted the Gulf as a key market for fresh vegetables and special potato varieties. An ambitious export target of ₹2 lakh crore has been set for NCEL, with Shah directing that all cooperative exports should be routed through the body.

NCEL posted a net profit of ₹122 crore on a turnover of ₹4,283 crore in 2024–25, while paying a 20 percent dividend to members in 2023–24. It has also signed 61 strategic agreements with importers from Senegal, Indonesia, and Nepal.

To expand further, Shah suggested opening NCEL offices in Africa and Myanmar, along with a dedicated website to track demand. The organisation not only handles procurement, processing, packaging, and marketing but also links cooperatives to finance, skills, and global markets, creating rural jobs.

Promoted by IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NAFED, Amul, and NCDC, NCEL represents the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi” — prosperity through cooperation.
