Mysore Sandal Soap, made by Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), has officially become the fragrance partner for Kantara – Chapter 1, announced Karnataka’s Industries Minister M.B. Patil on Friday.
The tie-up connects two icons of Karnataka — the Kannada film industry, popularly known as “Sandalwood,” and KSDL, famous for its sandalwood-based products. Under the agreement, KSDL’s products will be promoted at every movie screening, boosting the soap brand’s visibility.
Kantara – Chapter 1, starring Rishab Shetty, will release in seven languages, including English and Spanish, and screen in over 13,500 theatres globally. Minister Patil called the partnership a “matter of pride,” highlighting KSDL’s 110-year legacy and its growing global reach.
KSDL has recently increased focus on exports and branding. Actress Tamannaah Bhatia, appointed as the brand’s ambassador earlier this year, is helping it connect with younger consumers.
KSDL Chairman Appaji Nadagouda added that this collaboration allows Mysore Sandal Soap to reach an even larger audience through cinema, one of the most influential platforms.
The partnership marks a unique blend of tradition, cinema, and cultural pride — aiming to carry the scent of Karnataka across the world.
