Kuruba survey clarifications by leaders

CH NEWS

H.M. Revanna, former minister and state president of the Karnataka State Kuruba Awareness Committee, addressed key clarifications regarding the ongoing socio-educational survey during a press conference on Friday. Revanna emphasized that the survey, conducted under constitutional and legal provisions, aims to understand the conditions of all communities, not just backward groups. He clarified that claims suggesting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah Is including Kurubas in the Scheduled Tribes category are false. “The authority to categorize communities as ST lies with the central government, not the state,” Revanna said. He noted that previous surveys, including the Havanuru and Kantharaj reports, have faced delays, and the current exercise ensures accurate documentation of community status. Revanna urged Kuruba community members to participate honestly, indicating their religion as Hindu and their caste as Kuruba, while sub-caste details remain optional. He stressed that political misinformation should be ignored and the survey should be treated as an administrative process. The event was attended by TB Balgavi, Kanakshree Charitable Trust leaders, senior Kuruba organization representatives including Shantkumar, Siddanna Meti, Keshavamurthy, Mallesh, and Chowdannavar.
