Dhanush explains viral childhood Idly comment

Actor Dhanush has responded to recent online trolling over a comment he made about struggling to afford idly during his childhood. The remark was made during promotions for his upcoming film Idly Kadai.

Social media users questioned his statement, pointing out that his father, Kasthuri Raja, was a filmmaker, and asked how his family could have been so poor.

Clearing the air at a separate event, Dhanush explained, “I was born in 1983. My father became a director in 1991. Our family only became financially stable around 1995. What I shared was from my early childhood, before I was even a teenager.”

The actor emphasized that his statement was not for sympathy but to reflect on how far he has come in life.

Today, Dhanush is one of India’s most successful actors. He owns a luxurious mansion in Chennai, which he gifted to his parents. His brother, Selvaraghavan, is also a well-known director in the Tamil film industry.

With Idly Kadai generating buzz, Dhanush’s clarification seems to have put the controversy to rest — turning attention back to his film and journey.
