Commissioner’s phone-in drive to resolve civic issues

Residents Raise Safety, Road Issues During Interactive Session with Commissioner

Under the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru North City Corporation, Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar held a Phone-In programme on Friday at the control room located on Amruthahalli Main Road in Byatarayanapura. The interactive session was aimed at directly engaging with residents and addressing their civic concerns in real time.

During the session, the Commissioner received a total of 53 complaints from citizens across different localities under the corporation’s limits. The majority of the grievances were related to the growing street dog menace, requests for the removal of hazardous trees and branches, and urgent calls for repairing potholes and damaged roads.

Several callers highlighted how stray dogs had become a safety concern, particularly for school-going children and elderly residents. Others raised alarms over large tree branches leaning dangerously close to houses, posing risks during heavy rains and winds. Potholes and broken road stretches were also reported as major issues affecting daily commutes and vehicle safety. Commissioner Sunil Kumar instructed the concerned zonal and ward-level officers to initiate immediate action on all complaints, stressing that public safety and convenience must be given top priority. He emphasized the need for swift response teams to handle dog-catching operations, road repair works, and the clearance of weak trees. The Commissioner assured that the grievances registered during the programme would be monitored closely until resolved, adding that such Phone-In programmes would be held regularly to strengthen communication between the civic body and the public.
