A joint Nutrition Month Celebration Programme was organized by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Legal Services Authority, Health and Family Welfare Department, Postal Department, Women and Child Development Department, and Child Development Scheme at Veerabhadreshwara Community Hall, Pete.
The programme was inaugurated by Shailaja Vinayak Manvi, a senior local resident, with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. MMAE Narrator Radha G. Mannur provided insights on key Poshan Month 2025 themes, including obesity prevention, tree planting in the mother’s name, “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi,” healthy eating habits for infants and young children, and male participation in nutrition initiatives.
Medical Officer Mehrosh Mulla shared information about local Primary Health Center services, while A. Shivaraj, Executive Officer of the Head Post Office, explained the free Child Aadhaar Card services available for children aged 0 to 6 years. G. Padmavati, Deputy Director of the Women and Child Development Department and chairperson of the programme, highlighted the importance of proper nutrition for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers, and emphasized maintaining a clean environment to prevent diseases and promote health.
Pamphlets focusing on gender minorities and Devadasis were released during the event. HS Jogera, Child Development Project Officer; Sangeetha Hoogara, District Nutrition Coordinator; Pawana Katigara, District Programme Assistant; Health and Family Welfare staff; Anganwadi workers; helpers; pregnant women; mothers; and children actively participated.
The programme also featured demonstrations of nutritious foods, activities showcasing the health benefits of fruits by children, cultural performances, and traditional ceremonies including Seemanta and Anna Prashan, highlighting the importance of nutrition and overall well-being.
