Rawalpindi, Islamabad report 32 new dengue cases

Islamabad and Rawalpindi in Pakistan reported 32 new dengue cases, local media confirmed on Tuesday. The District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad said 12 cases were recorded in the capital, with 11 from rural areas and one from an urban area. Cases were reported from Rawat (5), Tarlai (2), and one each from Koral, Sohan, Tarnol, Bhara Kahu, and I-14. All 12 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals following World Health Organization (WHO) protocols.
Authorities have urged residents to take preventive measures, including regularly cleaning water tanks, containers, and coolers, to curb mosquito breeding and dengue transmission. Citizens are encouraged to take responsibility for their health and the health of their communities.
Earlier, 20 new dengue cases were reported on Monday, bringing the season’s total to 477. Among 438 suspected patients visiting government hospitals with fever, backache, and similar symptoms, 37 were confirmed through dengue tests. Of these, 20 cases were in Rawalpindi, with the remainder in Islamabad and surrounding districts such as Murree, Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal. Cases were reported from areas including Kotha Kalan, Peshawar Road, Takht Pari, Sukho, Chak Jalal Din, Mohanpura, Naseerabad, Dhoke Ali Akbar, and Dhoke Syedan.
During inspections in Hassanabdal, dengue larvae were found in residential areas, graveyards, marriage halls, junkyards, and factories. Authorities took immediate legal action and urged the public to remove stagnant water, cover water tanks, maintain cleanliness, and ensure children wear long-sleeved clothing to reduce mosquito bites, highlighting the serious health threat posed by dengue.
