Akshay Kumar slams AI-made trailer as misleading

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has strongly criticised the use of artificial intelligence to create fake videos of him. Taking to Instagram, he addressed a circulating AI-generated film trailer that falsely shows him playing Maharishi Valmiki.

I recently came across some AI-made videos where I am shown as Maharishi Valmiki. I want to make it clear that these trailers are completely fake. It is worrying that a few news channels are airing such clips as ‘news’ without checking their authenticity. At a time when misleading content is being produced so quickly through manipulative AI, I request all media houses to verify facts before reporting, Akshay wrote.

His statement comes amid growing concerns in the film industry about misuse of celebrity identities online. Recently, stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, and Karan Johar approached the court seeking protection of their personality rights—including their names, images, voices, and performances—from unauthorised digital use. The Delhi High Court also highlighted that using Aishwarya’s name and image without consent not only causes financial loss but also damages her dignity and reputation.

On the professional front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Jolly LLB 3, directed by Subhash Kapoor. The courtroom drama reunited him with Arshad Warsi, as both reprised their popular roles. The film also features Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao, with Seema Biswas in a powerful role as a grieving mother.
