Hockey India has announced an 18-member squad for the upcoming Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia. Defender Rohit has been named captain of the junior men’s team, which is preparing for the tournament as a key step toward the Junior World Cup.
The team includes goalkeepers Bikramjit Singh and Princedeep Singh, with defenders Talem Priyobarta, Anmol Ekka, Amir Ali, Sunil P B, and Ravneet Singh supporting skipper Rohit. Midfielders in the squad are Ankit Pal, Thounaojam Ingalemba Luwang, Adrohit Ekka, Araijeet Singh Hundal, Rosan Kujur, and Manmeet Singh. The forward line features Arshdeep Singh, Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Ajeet Yadav, and Gurjot Singh.
Coach PR Sreejesh said, “This tournament is a good chance for our players to gain international experience and test themselves before the Junior World Cup. The team has been preparing well, and we aim for a strong showing in Malaysia.”
India, who won bronze last year, will start their campaign against Great Britain on October 11. They’ll then face New Zealand (Oct 12), Pakistan (Oct 14), Australia (Oct 15), and hosts Malaysia (Oct 17). The top two teams will meet in the final on October 18.
