“Houses are being constructed to provide permanent shelter to the homeless within the city limits, and authorities must ensure quality construction and expedite distribution to beneficiaries as per the rules,” said NS Bosaraju, Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology. He made these remarks while inspecting 2,419 houses built under the G+3 floor model of the Mahanagara Palike under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana near Yaramaras on the city outskirts.

The construction of these houses has faced delays. To provide shelter for the poor, both central and state governments have not only built houses but also enabled purchase through subsidy schemes. Eligible homeless residents can access houses with full facilities. The authorities have been instructed to identify beneficiaries and begin distribution promptly.

Of the total 2,419 houses, construction has been divided into two sections: 1,191 houses in the first section and 1,228 in the second. The work will be completed rapidly, after which allocation will commence, the Minister stated.

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Zubin Mohapatra, Deputy Divisional Officer Gajanana Bale, Public Works Department Executive Engineer, Director of Land Records, Assistant Executive Engineer Mahesh Kumar, Taluk Land Records Assistant Director Balappa, Airport Engineer Praveen, Congress leader K Shanthappa, Amaregowda Hanchinala, Rudrappa Angadi, and Sanna Narasaraddy were present during the inspection.
