The district BJP expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing GST 2.0, calling it a historic reform, at a gathering held at Shivapappa Nayaka Circle in the city. The District Commerce and Industry Association also joined the event.
Speaking on the occasion, State BJP President BY Vijayendra said that despite significant challenges from the U.S., Modi demonstrated courage and steadfast leadership. He criticized the Congress for failing to deliver reforms despite campaigning on promises of addressing poverty traps. Vijayendra highlighted that GST reforms aim to create a self-reliant and prosperous India, targeting development goals for 2047. He explained that the new GST structure maintains 12% and 5% slabs for the poor, middle class, and businesses while eliminating the remaining two slabs.
He added that decisions in the GST Committee require consensus among state Finance Ministers, and any objections could block implementation, noting that Congress attempted to politicize the reform.
The celebration included distribution of sweets and bursting of firecrackers. MLCs Dhananjaya Sarji and DS Arun, District BJP President Jagadish, Mohana Reddy, Malatesh Harikrishna, and other dignitaries attended the event.
