Yellapur
A sudden fire engulfed a Delhi-registered car on National Highway 63 in Aratibail Ghat, Yellapur taluk, Uttara Kannada district, on Sunday morning, September 21. The vehicle, which was traveling from Yellapur towards Ankola, caught fire abruptly, leading to its complete destruction by the time firefighters arrived.
Fire department personnel rushed to the scene upon receiving reports but could only extinguish the blaze after the car was fully gutted. Fortunately, the occupants managed to exit the vehicle in time, escaping without injuries.Local police attended the site for inspection and have initiated an inquiry to determine the cause of the fire, which preliminary reports suggest may be due to a short circuit or mechanical fault.
The incident caused temporary disruption to traffic on the ghat section, a notoriously winding stretch prone to accidents. No casualties were reported, but authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution and ensure vehicles are well-maintained before traversing hilly roads.
